Swissvale Man in Jail on Firearms Charges, Endangering Child

Man was found in McKeesport with his girlfriend. Weapons were found near a crib where a baby was sleeping.

A Swissvale man is in Allegheny County jail after being arrested on two separate warrants involving firearms charges.

Allegheny County Sheriff William P. Mullen announced today the apprehension of Rodney Johnson, 24, of Swissvale and his girlfriend, Destinee Webb, 23 of McKeesport.  

Wednesday morning, sheriff’s deputies obtained information of Johnson’s whereabouts at a residence in the first block of Crawford Village Road in McKeesport. Shortly after announcing themselves, deputies gained entry to the home and apprehended Johnson without incident.

While clearing the house, deputies found a 12-gauge semi-automatic, sawed off shotgun located next to a crib, where an infant child was sleeping. Along with Johnson, deputies apprehended Webb and charged both with possession of an offensive weapon and endangering welfare of a child; while more charges could follow.

Johnson was wanted on two separate bench warrants. The first warrant was issued for violating the conditions of his probation/parole in connection with a 2007 conviction of a firearms charge. The second warrant, also involving a firearms incident, was issued for failing to appear regarding this 2009 case.

The couple is at the Allegheny County Jail where they will await arraignment.
