Swissvale Man Held for Court on Rape Charges

Allegheny County police have charged a 19-year-old with rape.

A 19-year-old Swissvale resident will face rape charges in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

Allegheny County police have charged Russell Jeremy Valdez with rape and sexual assault after a Jan. 6 incident. A preliminary hearing before Forest Hills District Justice Thomas Caulfield was scheduled for March 20, and he was held for court.

Valdez is accused of sexually assaulting and raping an acquaintance at a Monongahela Avenue residence.

Valdez is being held at the Allegheny County Jail. Bail is set at $100,000. His formal arraignment in common pleas court will be on May 7 at 11 a.m.
