Stolen Weapons, Drugs Found at Forest Hills Fire, Man Charged

A victim of a March fire in Forest Hills is charged with possession of stolen guns.

After the rescued Julius Hopson from his second floor apartment during an , they found much more than just flames.

Firefighters discovered several stolen handguns, semi-automatic weapons and drugs.

Hopson, 24, of Forest Hills was held for court this week at the office of on charges of three counts of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The police report and affidavit states that when firefighters were called to the scene at 528 Ogden Avenue in Forest Hills, they found Hopson unresponsive in the second floor bedroom. After he was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment, firefighters discovered a gun sitting on a pool table in the living room. It was a Ruger P91 .40 caliber weapon.

The firefighters immediately notified the Forest Hills police. They also found $428 in cash next to Hopson’s wallet and iPhone.

In a rear bedroom, crews also found a Colt AR-15 rifle, according to the affidavit. Police checked the weapons and found that they had been stolen out of the City of Pittsburgh. Two other handguns in a shoebox also were found and identified as stolen weapons.

In addition, police also confiscated a scale, marijuana, marijuana buds and ziplock baggies.

Hopson posted $10,000 bail and was ordered to substance abuse treatment.
