Stolen Credit Card from Giant Eagle, Crack Cocaine Found at Traffic Stop

The following cases recently have been heard by

David Schaefer, 26, of Somerset waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of tampering with physical evidence, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wilkins police arrested Schaefer March 1 after they noticed his car parked at Kuhn’s Market. Police noticed track marks on his arms and also saw him throw something into a nearby garbage can as they approached. Police later found empty stamp bags of heroin in the garbage can and also found syringes in the car. Lindsay Burrows, 29, of Somerset waived her right to a hearing on charges of conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was a passenger in the car.

Christina Marie Kemmerer, 31, of Edgewood waived her right to a hearing on charges of counterfeit, theft by deception and theft of property by mistake. Edgewood police received a complaint April 5 from victim Louise Reynolds of Wilkinsburg, who reported that a lost credit card had been charged with more than $450 worth of items and fraudulent charges. Through security camera surveillance, police found that Reynolds had dropped the card on the floor of the Edgewood Town Centre Giant Eagle accidentally, while Kemmerer stood behind her and quietly picked it up and took the card.

Jerome Philip Hope, Jr., 34, of Penn Hills waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of an accident involving injury, driving with a suspended license, operating a vehicle without financial responsibility and reckless driving. Edgewood police arrested Hope, Jr. May 18 after being called to the scene of a crash at 205 Swissvale Ave. James Lippert, the driver of the other car involved, was treated for neck and back injuries. Police stated Hope, Jr. had crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and smelled of alcohol. He also was driving without insurance.

Alan East, 39, of Monroeville  waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of two counts of driving under the influence and careless driving. Edgewood police arrested East June 5 after receiving a report of a vehicle swerving all over the road near the Edgewood/Swissvale parkway exit. East failed a sobriety test and had a .218 percent blood alcohol content after a breathalizer test.

Robert Irving Meekins, 30, of Johnstown was held for court on charges of possession with intent to deliver, false identification, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Wilkins police arrested Meekins March 5 after a traffic stop near Popeye’s restaurant, where they found crack cocaine and marijuana in the car.
