Sexual Assault, Illegal Weapons Cases in Wilkinsburg

The latest from the district court in Wilkinsburg.

The following cases were recently heard by District Judge Kim M. Hoots in Wilkinsburg:

Paul Hunter, 25, of Wilkinsburg waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of corruption of minors, two counts of statutory sexual assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, indecent exposure, three counts of indecent assault and two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person younger than 16. Hunter was charged by Allegheny County police on July 13 after an investigation stemming from a father’s report that his 15-year-old daughter was raped by Hunter. According to the criminal complaint, the girl told police she met Hunter on Facebook and had sex with him at least 25 times.

Antonio Marcus Ligion, Jr., 22, of Natrona Heights was held for court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license and tampering with evidence. Wilkinsburg police charged Ligion on July 13. According to the criminal complaint, police were patrolling the 1200 block of Bessica St. when they saw Ligion grabbing his waist band and walking toward an alley. Police pulled over and a foot chase ensued. After arresting Ligion, officers found a nine-millimeter gun with nine live rounds in a nearby garbage can and allege that he tossed it there.

Jeremy Hobdy-Snowden, 18, of Garfield waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a prohibited firearm and carrying a loaded weapon. Wilkinsburg police charged Hobdy-Snowden on May 15. According to the criminal complaint, police stopped him while he was walking on Swissvale Ave. because he fit the description of a homicide suspect. Police say he dropped a bag containing a gun and ran from officers. Edgewood police helped make the arrest.

Jeffrey Reeves Coates, 25, of Monroeville was held for court on charges of DUI (second offense), marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, disregarding traffic lanes, improper use of turn signal, reckless and careless driving, and not wearing a seat belt. State police arrested Coates in June of last year, when he wrecked into a concrete barrier after passing a vehicle on the parkway near the Ardmore Blvd. overpass.
