Several Thefts from Unlocked Cars Reported in Edgewood

Police are urging residents to lock doors, close windows.

Multiple thefts from vehicles have been reported in this week, largely due to a number of unlocked cars being opened and rifled through by unknown people.

On Monday, five different incidents were reported to Edgewood police.

The first two occurred at 333 Locust St., where an unlocked Toyota Prius and an unlocked Subaru Forester both were opened. $10 of change from each car was taken.

Change also was taken after another vehicle was rummaged through at 436 Elmer the same day, according to police.

On Thursday, a vehicle at 1116 East End Ave. also was opened with just loose change taken from the car.

Police are urging residents to make sure their home and car doors are kept locked at all times to prevent any further thefts.
