Charges Filed Against School Bus Driver Who Allegedly Hit a Pedestrian

The 71-year-old denies the charges.

Allegheny County police arrested a 71-year-old school bus driver suspected of striking a woman in Forest Hills with his vehicle and taking off, according to WTAE.

Ernest Brevard of Lawrenceville is accused of driving the small bus that hit 67-year-old Alberta "Bunny" Slaczka, who remains in critical condition. Police conducted an extensive investigation following the Wednesday morning accident.

According to court documents, Brevard faces charges of accidents involving personal injury, immediate notice of accident to police, false reports, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. Allegheny County police filed the charges.

A preliminary hearing before Forest Hills District Justice Thomas Caulfield has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, at 9 a.m.

He reportedly denies these charges.
