Robbery Suspect to Face Trial

Jayme Keeton will go on trial as he faces charges in the Jan. 14 robbery of Animal Nature, a pet store at the corner of Forbes and Braddock avenues.

was held for court Tuesday during a preliminary hearing. He is charged with four counts of robbery and one count of criminal conspiracy.

Keeton was sleeping in his second floor bedroom around noon Jan. 25 when police interrupted his nap by arresting him.

Pittsburgh police responded to the call at Animal Nature in which four people were robbed at gunpoint by two young black men in the pet store around 2:30 p.m. that day.

The men stole the four victims' wallets, cell phones, all money from the cash register and a total of about $200 in donations for an animal charity called LionHearts.

Police continue to investigate.

Keeton is in Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond.
