Suspected Puff Discount Tobacco Burglar Waives Preliminary Hearing

Isaac McCants III waived a hearing before District Judge Thomas Caulfield last week.

Isaac McCants III, 44, of North Braddock waived his right to a preliminary hearing Nov. 7 before District Judge Thomas Caulfield on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking-immoveable property, criminal mischief/tampering with property and public drunkenness and similar misconduct filed by Braddock Hills police.

On Oct. 27, two Braddock Hills police officers were dispatched to Puff Discount Tobacco in the Braddock Hills Shopping Center after glass broke, setting off the burglar alarm. When they arrived, they found the storefront glass had been smashed out and a carton of cigarettes on the floor behind the counter.

A witness told the officers that a man wearing dark clothing had broken into the store and ran behind Propel School. An employee determined that six cartons of cigarettes had been stolen.
