Police Search for Missing Runaway from Wilkinsburg

Do you know this teenager?

Pittsburgh police are looking for help in locating Kanasia Gaskins of Wilkinsburg, a 13-year-old African-American female.

Her height is 5-foot-3, while she weighs 104 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and medium-dark complexion, police stated. Gaskins walked away from UPMC Children’s Hospital and from her CYF case worker on March 19 at approximately 4:34 p.m.

She was at the facility for a medical exam, which is standard procedure for a juvenile who runs away and then returns to the facility. The CYF caseworker reported that Gaskins informed her that it was taking too long for the exam and she walked out of the hospital unaccompanied. The caseworker reported following her for a short while.

Gaskins' mother and CYF workers describe her as a habitual runaway. The Pittsburgh police has on file one report of her running away prior to this report having returned home on her own. She has no medical condition and is not deemed to be at risk, other than her age of 13.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Gaskins is asked to contact the PBP SAFC/Missing Persons Unit at 412-323-7141 or 911. Callers may remain anonymous.
