Police Respond to Wilkinsburg Shooting, Fight Over Anti-Abortion Signs

The latest from police.

The following police reports were taken this week at the Edgewood Police Department:

April 20

  • Police responded to a suspicious activity report after a car alarm was going off at 6:30 a.m. A resident stated that when he looked outside, two people were sitting in a grey/black Saturn with tinted windows near his car. They left the area before police arrived.
  • Police responded to a theft report on E. Swissvale after it was found that a black lawnmower and two rakes were taken from a garage, while 12 CD’s also were stolen from an unlocked car in the garage.
  • Police responded to a false alarm on Elm Street.
  • Police responded to a two-car accident at Pennwood and Washington.
  • Edgewood police assisted Rankin officers in an arrest of two females involved in drug activity.
  • Police responded to an accident at the Parkway ramp on South Braddock after a car sideswiped a tractor-trailer.
  • Police responded to a report of theft on East Hutchinson after a $100 Graco baby stroller was removed from the front porch.

April 21

  • Car keys were found to a rental car. The company was notified.
  • Police responded to a false alarm at Foot Locker.
  • Police responded to a disturbance at Taco Bell after a woman started yelling at employees when they refused to serve her as she walked up to the drive-through window. She was advised to leave.
  • Police responded to a noise complaint at 200 Elm Street after a party disturbed residents. Owner advised to turn music down.

April 22

  • A suspicious person was reported at Applebee’s after a woman was yelling at employees.
  • Police assisted on a medical call.
  • Edgewood police assisted Wilkinsburg officers with a domestic dispute call.
  • Edgewood police assisted state police with an accident on the Parkway.

April 23

  • Police responded to a false alarm on Lacrosse.

April 24

  • Police responded to a false alarm on Elm Street. 
  • Police responded to a false alarm on Walnut.
  • Police responded to a verbal dispute on the Parkway Ramp after a driver got into a fight with someone holding anti-abortion signs that displayed aborted fetuses. Handled by Swissvale police.
  • A suspicious man was seen on Elm Street wearing all black and looking into car windows. Police searched the area with negative results.
  • Police responded to Planet Fitness after a dispute between the manager and a patron occurred. The patron was upset over a policy that prohibits people from wearing hoodies in the facility. He was given a refund for April and asked to leave.
  • Edgewood police assisted Swissvale officers with a report that two people on Milton were trying to break into a vehicle. The suspects were gone when police arrived.

April 25

  • Edgewood police assisted Swissvale officers with a DUI arrest after William Wallis had a .234 percent blood alcohol content after a breath test.

April 26

  • Edgewood police assisted Wilkinsburg with a domestic.
  • Police responded to a false alarm at Taco Bell.
  • Police responded to a loose dog in the Giant Eagle area, which has been found there several times before. The dog’s owners was notified again.
