Police Reports: Armed Robbery on E. Hutchinson, WPSD Threats

Here's a look at the police reports from Edgewood this week.

Sept. 24

  • Suspicious activity was reported at 153 Oakview when a neighbor called to say they saw a “Help” sign hanging in the window. The resident was found to be physically OK.
  • A disturbance was reported at the Edgewood Towne Center restaurant after Cassandra Hoye was upset over an order and threw a container of fries at the manager through the drive-through window. Hoye is being cited by mail for disorderly conduct.
  • Edgewood police assisted Wilkinsburg officers with a man shot in the leg at 1503 Center Street.

Sept. 25

  • A suspicious incident was reported at the after the complainant’s daughter, who attends the school, said a boy told her he was “coming to school tomorrow to shoot the place up,” police said.

  • Following the report of a threat at WPSD, police detained and took a 19-year-old male to the station for questioning regarding the incident. Police reported that he is mentally challenged. The district attorney’s office was advised and no charges were filed based on the recommendation. The man was released to his parents and . He will have adult supervision at all times at the school for the next two weeks.
  • Retail theft was reported at the Egewood Towne Center after a juvenile resisted with officers and staff. Injuries resulted during the arrest. Candy in the amount of $6.58 was taken. The juvenile was taken to Shuman Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and retail theft.
  • A hit-and-run accident involving three cars on Edgewood Avenue was reported. One car fled.
  • An armed robbery was reported after a man was robbed at gunpoint on East Hutchinson. The suspect, who could not be identified, took $5. He is described as a black male in his late 30s with dark clothing and a black revolver. He fled the scene before police arrived.

Sept. 27

  • A borough ordinance violation was reported against Cambria King of West Swissvale Avenue because of barking dogs. This has been an ongoing problem with multiple past citations.
  • A suspicious vehicle was reported on South Braddock Avenue but was gone before police arrived.
