Police Remove Bat from Edgewood Residence

A possible sexual assault, egging and noise complaint among the other items in this week's Edgewood police blotter.

Edgewood police answered a call March 10 after a resident reported finding a bat in a Rockwell Lane house.

Officers were able to remove the creature from the residence.

March 13

  • Kmart in Edgewood Towne Centre will privately prosecute a woman accused of retail theft.
  • After a traffic stop, police issued a non-traffic citation to the passenger of a car for possessing a small amount of marijuana. The driver was issued two traffic citations.

  • Police responded to an incident in the 100 block of Elm Street after a resident's dog ran out of the house and confronted and bit a dog that was being walked on the sidewalk. Police advised both dog owners about how to proceed.
  • Eight large rocks had to be removed from the roadway after a small landslide in the 500-600 blocks of Greendale Avenue.

March 11

  • A resident of the 200 block of Dewey Avenue found multiple pieces of broken glass on his front steps. Police believe it might be associated with an egging incident that took place at a neighboring home on March 9.
  • Edgewood police contacted the Allegheny County Police General Investigations Unit after a West Hutchinson Avenue resident reported a possible sexual assault that took place two years ago.
  • Police arrested a man on an outstanding warrant after stopping him in the 200 block of Dewey Avenue. He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail by the sheriff's department.

March 8

  • A woman walking to Eat'n Park in Edgewood Towne Centre called 911 after a man screamed at her. She ran to the Radio Shack to make the call.

March 7

  • Police checked out a noise complaint about a residence in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. A man was playing rock-and-roll music with all the doors and windows of the home open.
