Earlier the same day, Paterno made a statement saying he would retire at the end of the year.

Attorney General Linda Kelly and Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan issued the following statements earlier this week concerning the ongoing Jerry Sandusky sex crimes investigation at the university. Sandusky is a former defensive coordinator at PSU charged with sexually assaulting several young boys.
