North Braddock Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Pornography

Charles R. Gladish, 41, of 1411 Erma St., North Braddock, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti to a charge of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.

In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on Oct. 26, 2011, Gladish possessed visual depictions, namely photographs and videos in computer graphics files, the production of which involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Conti scheduled sentencing for 10 a.m. on May 24, 2013. The law provides for a total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch is prosecuting this case on behalf of the
government.

The Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Gladish. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
