A man was injured in Squirrel Hill Tuesday morning after being hit by a car which then fled the scene.
Police said the call came in at about 9:26 a.m. Officers responded to Wightman Street and Wilkins Avenue for a man struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, police observed medics and firefighters stabilizing the victim for transport to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses reported the victim was crossing the street when a red/maroon colored vehicle struck the victim, knocking him to the curb and sped up Wightman Street toward Fair Oaks.

No description of the vehicle was provided by witnesses only that it was red/maroon in color. The victim was identified as a white male, 68 years old from Squirrel Hill.
Collision Investigation, Homicide and Zone 6 Supervisors were on scene.
