Man Accused of Tagging Businesses in Swissvale

The Lancaster resident is facing several criminal mischief charges.

A man from Lancaster is accused of tagging several businesses in the Swissvale/Regent Square area.

Last week, John Paul Ressel, 22, went before Forest Hills District Justice Thomas Caulfield. He waived a preliminary hearing on five counts of criminal mischief. A charge of disorderly conduct was withdrawn.

Swissvale police filed the charges after an April 14 incident in which they found Ressel drawing on businesses with red and black markers along South Braddock Avenue.

Ressel is accused of tagging Typhoon Lighting, D's Six Pack and Hot Dogs, Murphy's Tap Room, Port Authority property and Swissvale Borough.

City of Pittsburgh police also have charged Ressel with criminal mischief for vandalizing property in Point Breeze.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Graffiti Task Force, Ressel caused about $300 in damage.

A formal arraignment pertaining to the incidents in Swissvale has been scheduled for June 12 at the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
