Major Gas Leak Reported in Swissvale

Fire departments from Edgewood, Swissvale and Forest Hills were on the scene at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

A gas leak was reported near the Swissvale Library around 1 p.m. Wednesday after residents smelled fumes across a span of four blocks.

Edgewood, Forest Hills and Swissvale fire departments all responded to the scene, along with Swissvale police.

Crews are venting and metering buildings and Monongahela Avenue is blocked off between four blocks in that area.

Employees from the library and other businesses on the block evacuated and stood along the street as crews investigated.
