This is a real shame. Someone who uses their skills to improve the lives of children is treated in such a way. I hope they catch this guy and let the teacher decide the punishment.

Come on, man! I love my neighborhood, but every time something like this comes up in the news, it just makes me want to move...

I understand that feeling Joe, but the truth is that crime is everywhere. Even "good neighborhoods" in the far-out suburbs aren't immune.

Something like this happened to me when I lived in Wilkinsburg and I DID move. Best move I ever made. I grew up there as did both of my parents but it has become ridiculous. Yes there is crime everywhere but there is more there and it's frequently against people minding their own business.

As long as bad people continue to make babies, this will continue to get worse.

I'm sorry to hear this happened and I hope the teacher is OK. I live just a block from here and I've often wondered why school staff parks on the residential streets rather than in the school parking lot? Isn't there sufficient parking? Do they feel it's safer on residential streets rather than on school grounds? (We now know the answer to that!) Are they just too lazy and try to find parking convenient to their classroom than the school lot allows? THESE ARE JUST QUESTIONS, NOT JUDGEMENTS!
