Grenade, Accidents and Assists Keep Forest Hills Police Busy

Here are the Forest Hills police reports for March 29 to April 4.

Forest Hills residents got quite a surprise when they found a hand grenade inside their new home.

Forest Hills police were called to the Cascade Road home on March 31 after the residents who had just moved in found the grenade while they were cleaning. The Allegheny County Bomb Squad responded, and it was determined that the grenade had been previously diffused.

Stolen Vehicle

  • Police initiated a traffic stop on Ardmore Boulevard on April 3 and recovered a Department of Public Works van that had been stolen from Braddock Borough.

Shots Fired

  • Police assisted the Turtle Creek Police Department during a shooting call on March 30. One male was shot.
  • Police assisted the Edgewood Police Department with a shooting at Edgewood Towne Centre on March 30. Three people were shot.

Accidents

  • Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Ardmore Boulevard and Filmore Road on March 29.
  • A hit-and-run accident occurred on Ardmore Boulevard and Morrow Road on March 31. A motorist reported being sideswiped by another motorist who left the scene.

Fire Call

  • Police responded to a fire call on Park Ridge Place on April 2. A child's stuffed animal was burning next to the lightbulb of a ceiling light fixture on the second floor.
