Fugitive on Run for 12 Years Arrested in Swissvale Friday

Neal Jones was among 10 Mon Valley suspects who were part of Tremaine 'Munch' Briston's drug ring arrested by Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics investigators in 2001.

Neal Jones, 56, a fugitive who had been on the run for nearly 12 years, was arrested without incident at approximately 12:30 pm. Friday in the 2000 block of Noble Street in Swissvale by the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force.

Jones was wanted on an Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas bench warrant issued on April 27, 2001 for multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Jones was among 10 Mon Valley suspects who were part of Tremaine “Munch” Briston’s drug ring arrested by Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigators on Feb. 8, 2001. 

The ring was reportedly responsible for distributing approximately $7 million of drugs during a three-year investigation. Jones was also wanted on two additional Allegheny County bench warrants also issued in 2001 for drug offenses.

Jones is originally from the Pittsburgh area and was last known to reside in North Braddock. He was believed to have fled the area shortly after posting bond in this case. 

Jones provided an alias name at the time of arrest and also possessed a California identification card in the name of David Neal. Jones was lodged at the Allegheny County Jail.
