Long told Allegheny County detectives that he had been walking home from school—the day of graduation—when he suddenly sensed that someone was behind him. He looked back, and recognized his fellow student by the name of Tyler. Long told police he has known the man since freshman year of high school.

Long told police that Harris then said, “What’s up now?” Long did not reply.
Harris then said, “Don’t run or I’ll shoot you in the back,” according to the police criminal complaint.

Long was then shot and ran in the opposite direction of Harris, the complaint states.

A search on the Commonwealth Photo Imaging Network retrieved a picture of a person matching Long’s description of the suspect. On Nov. 1 at about 10:30 p.m., detectives presented photographs of possible suspects to Long. He pointed at a photograph and said, “That’s him,” identifying the man as Harris.

“That’s the dude who shot me,” Long said to detectives, according to the complaint.

A warrant was then issued for Harris’ arrest.
