Police Arrest Theft Suspect, Quell Concerns About Bones in Garden

The latest Forest Hills police reports.

Sept. 5

  • Leah Gillis, a Pizza Hut employee suspected of stealing a nearly $1,600 deposit she was supposed to make for the restaurant on Aug. 25, turned herself in at the police station on an arrest warrant.

Sept. 4

  • A man reported that his collection of coins and cash were stolen from his home. The collection, which included more than 80 $2 bills and a set of coins dating between 1973 and 1981, added up to more than $500 in currency. He also reported missing a silver lunch box and two pairs of sunglasses.
  • A woman reported that she thought two antique rings of hers had been stolen from her house between this past January and March. She put off filing an insurance claim until recently and had to file a formal police report. The woman told police that multiple contractors had been in the house in January to fix a condensation problem.

  • Devante Fleming was charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and underage drinking, and Mylea Jackson was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after an incident. Police took both to the Allegheny County Jail after filing paperwork at the station.
  • Police arrested Kelly Johnston and charged her with DUI, speeding and littering. According to the police report, officers pulled Johnston over after she sped by the 2100 block of Ardmore Blvd. and flicked a cigarette out of her window. The report listed her blood alcohol content at .129.

  • Officers helped North Braddock police take people into custody at Electric Avenue Cafe and also responded to a fight on Price Avenue.

  • A Kenmore Avenue resident called police after he found three large bones while digging in his garden and suspected them to be human remains. An examination at the medical examiners’ office determined the bones to be non-human.
  • Police responded to a violent domestic dispute. According to the report, a husband and wife got into an argument during which the husband threw a set of keys at her, cutting her head. He also pushed her into a china closet, injuring her elbow, she told police. Officers took the man to the station and advised the woman about getting a protection from abuse order.

Aug. 31

  • Officers assisted North Braddock police in responding to a report of a man being shot down in a parking lot. According to the report, the man was gone when police arrived.

Aug. 30

  • Officers responded to a physical domestic dispute. According to the police report, a formerly married couple got into an argument and began pushing one another after an event their daughter had at the East Catholic School gymnasium. The parents were advised to settle their dispute with the magistrate.

Aug. 28

  • Police issued a citation for disorderly conduct to Vincent Fusca. According to the police report, an officer thought he saw Fusca urinating on the side of the magisterial district court building on Ardmore Boulevard. When another officer responded to the call and questioned Fusca, he denied the claim and said he was waiting for his daughter’s mother to pick her up. Fusca left shortly after. The officer issued the citation by mail after finding fresh urine near the building’s side entrance door.
