Explosion Reported at Former Edgewood Tennis & Fitness Club

The Edgewood fire chief calls it suspicious.

Edgewood Fire Chief Dave Andrews said more than one fire was set inside of the former Edgewood Tennis & Fitness Club this afternoon.

Crews were on the scene after nearby workers and residents reportedly heard an explosion and called 911. The explosion was reported around 3:50 p.m. Monday at the 5000 block of McKelvey Road, located nearby  restaurant and the Parkway East.

No one was injured in the incident, which is being called suspicious by the chief and police involved. A fire did not spread and was under control. From the outside, damage looked to be minimal.
