EVFD Receives State Certification for Emergency Truck, Services

The local department was officially certified Monday.

The Volunteer Fire Department recently received volunteer and rescue certification from the state of Pennsylvania, which recognizes its rescue services as an entity of the state.

The department’s emergency rescue truck has to have certain types of equipment on it to be certified, while specific training also is required by all members.

“To me, it recognizes the members hard work as volunteers to have a truck that’s actually certified and it’s something to be proud of,”

All members need to attend a water safety, helicopter, highway and safety and vehicle rescue classes in order to gain the state certification.

“I think this will open us up to more grants and monies from the state,” Halle said.
