Edgewood Police Handle Several Retail Thefts

Police reports from May 2 to 9.

The following incidents were reported to the Edgewood Police Department:

May 5

  • A caller reported that a young boy hit an elderly man in the head on Pennwood and then left with three other juveniles.
  • A man reported four black males punched his son in the face on East Hutchinson.
  • The mirror in the Koenig Field men's bathroom was damaged.

May 6

  • A man reported he was distracted away from the Citizens Bank ATM and someone made two separate withdraws from his account.
  • An Edgewood Avenue resident reported the theft of a lawn mower.
  • A juvenile female stole $20 worth of beauty products from the Edgewood Towne Centre Giant Eagle and got away.

May 7

  • A 16-year-old male stole $145 worth of Playstation video games from Kmart at the Edgewood Towne Centre. He will be privately prosecuted.

May 9

  • Three juvenile males stole snacks and lip balm from Giant Eagle. They will be privately prosecuted.
  • Walter Hicks, 63, of Pittsburgh was charged with retail theft, criminal attempt and false identification to law enforcement. He is accused of stealing $61 worth of steaks from Giant Eagle.
