Forest Hills District Court: Caulfield Hears Assault, Theft, Drug Cases

Here's a look at the district court cases for March 20.

District Judge Thomas Caulfield handled the following cases in his Forest Hills courtroom on March 20:

  • Daniel Cornejo Gutierrez, 24, of Arvin, Ca., was held for court on charges of manufacture, deliver or possess a controlled substance with intent; intent to possess a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Churchill police filed the charges after a Jan. 24 traffic stop on Harmian Road.
  • Ernest W. Giles, 39, of Rankin was held for court on charges of simple assault and terroristic threats. Swissvale police filed the charges after a Jan. 5 fight on Washington Street.
  • Thomas Charles Goodwine, 19, of Pittsburgh was held for court on charges of simple assault, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault by prisoner and four counts of resisting arrest. Swissvale police filed the charges after a Feb. 28 fight on Hawthorne Avenue. Goodwine is accused of biting a police officer and resisiting arrest.
  • Hammon Adams Jr., 50, of Swissvale waived a preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, fraud, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving with blood alcohol content higher than 0.2 percent. Swissvale police filed the charges after a Dec. 28, 2012, traffic stop on South Braddock Avenue.
  • Michelle L. Harris, 38, of Swissvale waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of retail theft. Three counts of retail theft were withdrawn. Forest Hills police filed the charges after she was accused of stealing $45 worth of items from the Rite Aid on Ardmore Boulevard on Feb. 8.
  • Kemaya V. Morrison, 21, of Wilkins waived a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Forest Hills police filed the charges after an Oct. 2, 2012, traffic stop on Ardmore Boulevard.
