Courts: Man Charged with Selling Heroin, Edgewood Burglary Suspect Held for Court

Carlo Lamar, 21, of Lawrenceville waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week on charges of three counts of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lamar was arrested by Wilkins Township Police Aug. 16 after a plain clothes officer on duty had been doing an investigation on the sale of heroin from 712 McMasters Ave.

The officer approached the home to find a woman named “Jan” on the front porch. He asked Jan if Lamar was home, and she said yes, telling him to go inside. When the officer entered, he found Lamar sitting on a couch with several stamp bags, and asked, “Can I buy a bundle?”
The man reached for a plastic baggy which clearly had numerous stamp bags. The officer gave Lamar $80, was handed the heroin, and immediately arrested him, according to the affidavit.

Kurt Heider, 52, of Braddock Hills waived his right to a hearing on two counts of receiving stolen property, identity theft, and soliciting. Forest Hills police arrested Heider Aug. 13 after being dispatched to 701 Lenox Ave. for a report of a suspicious person. The man also had been removed from the area the previous day, according to the police report. Police said he was sitting on the back porch of the home when the owner discovered him and asked him why he was there. He said, “to cut the grass,” and refused to leave. Police then discovered to $50 gift cards and a license belonging to Lorraine Heider, his mother. She told police later that she is “afraid” of her son, according to the report.

Adeijae Yancey, 20, of Homewood waived her right to a hearing on charges of four counts of access device used to obtain property/service and identity theft. Yancey was charged July 11 after Wilkins police received a report of a stolen debit card from Ronald Jewell at the Wilkins Wendy’s restaurant. Jewell told police that a female cashier never gave the card back to him after a transaction. Police observed Yancey on surveillance video during the purchase, as she took the debit card and then hid it on her person. She first denied taking it, later calling police back to tell them that she did steal the card that day, according to the police report.

Christopher Lee Green, 25, of Homewood waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of theft by unlawful taking, disorderly conduct, simple assault and harassment. Wilkins police arrested Green July 11 after being called to the Laurel Village Apartments for a domestic dispute. Officers heard loud screaming upon their arrival, banged on the door and found Rae Lyn Helmich, the victim, with blood and swelling coming from her nose and lower lip, abrasions on her arms and shoulders and cuts on her inner forearms. She said they got in an argument and he punched her, according to the report.

Damon J. Boyd, 38, of Monroeville was held for court on charges of possession with intent to deliver, resistance of arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle and careless driving. Churchill police arrested Boyd July 8 during a traffic stop after police noticed an expired sticker. Boyd seemed nervous, according to the report, and had a large bulge in his pockets. Police later found rocks with loose powder believed to be cocaine, the complaint states. Police also found $284 in cash.

Chia Alexander, 27, of Wilkinsburg was held for court on charges of breaking into a structure, burglary, two counts of loitering and prowling at night, theft by unlawful taking and possession of an instrument of crime. Alexander was arrested June 27 after police were dispatched to 311 W. Hutchinson for a burglary report at the residence of David Evans and Lynsie Campbell. The couple said their dogs were barking in the kitchen area when they found that Campbell’s keys were missing. Wilkinsburg and police assisted in setting up a perimeter in the area, later finding Alexander hiding in the bushes on Milton Street with the car keys, a ski mask and gloves, according to the police report.

Robert Berry, 37, of Bellevue waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver. arrested Berry June 15 after being dispatched to Newport and Elmore roads with a report of a man looking into vehicles. Berry told police he was looking for Greensburg Pike and couldn’t find it after getting directions from a friend, the report states. Police later discovered Oxycodone pills in his car.

Jason E. Douglas, 42, of Monroeville waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week on charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, disregard of the traffic lane, driving at a safe speed and reckless driving. Churchill police arrested Douglas June 6 after a traffic stop initiated because they noticed a car driving with a flat tire on Beulah Road. Police smelled alcohol and Douglas’ speech was slurred, according to the report.
