Courts: Man Charged in Stealing Police Officer's Cell Phone, DUI Arrests

The following cases recently were heard by in :

Dericik Summers, 53, of Lawrenceville was held for court on two counts of retail theft after charges were filed Dec. 26 by Swissvale police. The police criminal complaint states that Summers took battery packs from the store.

Adam Joseph Getty, 27, of Ebensburg waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence, disregard of the traffic lane, careless driving and failure to notify police of an accident. State police arrested him Dec. 27.

Brandy R. Gaines, 28, of North Huntingdon waived her right to a preliminary hearing on charges of two counts of driving under the influence, criminal mischief, disregard of the traffic lane and careless driving. Forest Hills police charged her Jan. 2 after being dispatched to the 1600 block of Ardmore Boulevard for a one-car accident.

Erin Nathaniel Kirk, Jr., 20, of Swissvale was held for court on charges of theft—property lost by mistake, and disorderly conduct. Police were dispatched to Stanton Avenue Dec. 29 for a reported dispute. After leaving, the officer who responded to the original call realized his cell phone was missing and returned to the scene to find it. When he called his number, it went straight to voicemail. Upon returning, Kirk, Jr. looked up at police and quickly returned into the house. He then ignored the officers and later gave them the phone back. Police reported that the security features on the cell phone had been tampered with and Kirk, Jr. did not notify police when he initially found the phone.

Ethan Maskarinec, 21, of Churchill waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Forest Hills police charged him Jan. 15 after being dispatched to a family fight at his home.

Ramon Avant, 21, of Braddock Hills was held for court on charges of theft by unlawful taking and accessing a device used to obtain property. He was charged by Swissvale police Dec. 15.
