Courts: Edgewood Police Find 75 Ounces of Marijuana, Illegal Gun

Here's a look at the cases that came before

Steven Lamont Abram, 22, of Homewood was held for court on charges of having a firearm without a license, two counts of manufacturing with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Edgewood police arrested Abram Jan. 24 after a traffic stop was initiated. Abram, who was driving a 2003 Audi on Edgewood Avenue, began to significantly speed up as a police officer followed close behind, according to the affidavit.

Police pulled him over near the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Gordon Street. Police smelled marijuana, later finding a plastic bag of it in his pocket during a search. They also found $3,385 in cash. Edgewood police then called in the Swissvale police canine, which sniffed several areas of the car. A search of the vehicle found:

• 9 mm Beretta weapon with 17 lives rounds
• Two court notices in the glove compartment
• Bag of marijuana
• Cell phone
• Backpack with three large bags of suspected marijuana, small plastic bags of the drug, a digital scale, bowl, sandwich bags, scissors
• An unlabeled pill container with 42 suspected pills of Hydrocodone
• A brown paper bag with two large bags of marijuana

Police found a total of 74.92 ounces of marijuana during the stop. Abram did not have a license to carry the firearm. He posted $25,000 bail.

Robert Eugene Scott, IV, 24, of downtown Pittsburgh waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of disorderly conduct, simple assault and harassment. Edgewood police arrested Scott June 17 after being called to Chestnut and Gordon streets for a report of a couple fighting in the street. A woman named Stormy Brook Coulter told police that Scott ran toward C.C. Mellor Library after hitting and pushing her in the street, according to the affidavit. Scott said she tripped.

Kenneth Edward Wallace, 30, of Duquesne waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of fleeing police, conspiracy and possession of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, presenting false identification, disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering another person. Churchill police arrested Wallace May 19 after a traffic stop where they found suspected heroin. Wallace pulled away from police and ran in handcuffs. He later was found. Police also found a scale, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the affidavit.

Brett Bucholtz, 23, of Greensburg waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of five counts of driving under the influence and disregard of the traffic lane. State police arrested him near the Edgewood exit on the Parkway East after receiving a report of a hit and run. Police stopped him, smelled marijuana and alcohol and gave him a blood test. It was later found he had a .164 blood alcohol content, according to the affidavit.

Megan Jean Burkhart, 32, of Penn Hills waived her right to a preliminary hearing this week on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and careless driving. She was arrested May 22 by Churchill police after traveling north in the southbound lane on Beulah Road. Police pulled in front of Burkhart in the middle of the road near the intersection with William Penn Highway to stop her, as the two lanes are separated by a cement median wall.

Ceairraeast Wiliiamson, 28, of Highland Park was held for court on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and aggravated assault. Churchill police responded to a call of shots fired and people standing outside of two vehicles screaming on March 11 near McCrady and Beulah roads. A small silver revolver was found in Williamson’s car, according to the affidavit. Passengers said they pulled over along with another car after Williamson cut them off in a fit of road rage.
