Courts: DUI Cases Heard, Woman Charged with Retail Theft

Here's a look at the court cases heard this week.

The following cases recently were heard by in :

David Nicholas Bonda, 29, of Coraopolis waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of two counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wilkins police arrested Bonda Oct. 14 after being called to the Shop ‘N Save for a report of a man stealing a construction rebar from the back of the store. After the arrest, a stamp bag of heroin also was found in the driver’s side door.

Luann Krivanek, 53, of Edgewood waived her right to a preliminary hearing on charges of retail theft and disorderly conduct. Krivanek was charged Oct. 7 after police responded to the Edgewood Towne Center for a call that she had taken two packets of BIC lighters and walked out the door, according to the police criminal complaint. When she refused to give the lighters back, she also resisted workers at the store.

Jmar Perry, 24, of Homestead waived his right to a preliminary hearing on two counts of driving under the influence, violating turn signal laws, and speeding. Perry was arrested Aug. 22 by state police after a traffic stop on the Parkway East near the Edgewood exit, according to the police criminal complaint.

Shala Johnson, 31, of Bloomfield waived her right to a preliminary hearing on two counts of driving under the influence, disregarding the traffic lane and careless driving. Forest Hills police charged Johnson after pulling him over on Ardmore Boulevard because she was driving too slow. Police also found a half empty bottle of vodka in the car, according to the police criminal complaint.

Lewis George Kearns, 50, of McKeesport waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of two counts of driving under the influence. Kearns was arrested by Churchill police after he was involved in a two-car crash at the 2300 block of William Penn Highway.

Marvin S. Reed, 38, of North Braddock waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of two counts of driving under the influence, disregarding the traffic lane and careless driving. Forest Hills police arrested Reed Sept. 6 after his vehicle was swerving between lanes on Ardmore Boulevard, according to the police criminal complaint. Police also found empty beer cans on the floor of the vehicle, the complain states.

Barry Thompson, 25, of Wilkinsburg was held for court on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, violating duties at stop sign and careless driving.
