County Police Seek Help After Wilkinsburg Shooting

County homicide is hoping for information from public after a man dies after being gunned down in Wilkinsburg Thursday morning.

A 41-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was gunned down at about 3 a.m. this morning in the 1100 block of Pitt Street in Wilkinsburg.

Police responded to the scene and found a black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lt. Andrew Schurman, Allegheny County Homicide Unit. The victim died of those wounds after being transported to a local trauma hospital.

"At this point we have not identified a clear motive for the shooting," Schurman said in a press release.

The victim was walking home when the shooting occurred, he said. 

"Through witness accounts of the incident, we have learned that three young men were standing in the area of the 1100 block as the victim was passing," Schurman said. "One of these men shot the victim."

The shooter is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 5 feet 7- or 8-inches tall with a medium build and dark complexion. His hair was braided in corn rows and he was wearing a white T-shirt.

Police are asking that anyone who saw part of or this entire incident to call the homicide unit at 412-473-1300.  Callers can remain anonymous.
