Square Runner is Recovering after Attack—What Can We Do to Help?

William Reed Wingo is someone most of us call a friend. Let's give him some extra love right now.

Some people are just those kinds of people who step up and make a community exactly what it is. They just get it.

They have heart and soul and go above and beyond being a nameless face in the crowd. William Reed Wingo, the founder of the and catering manager at Square Cafe, is that person.

I was outraged and saddened after opening my computer yesterday, logging on to Facebook to find out that William was attacked this past weekend on his way to a club in the Strip District.

After being punched and beat up, William ran as fast as he could to get away. If you know William, you know how kind he is and the fact that he would never do anything to hurt another human being.

William is now suffering from a fractured jaw and other injuries—some that we will never be able to see. He tried to get back to work this week, but he needs the time to heal. He posted on Facebook yesterday just to let people know that he is OK, but won't be around for the next few days. He’ll be at home for awhile, I am sure, trying to get better.

I feel the need to do something. While a lot of people are hard pressed for money these days, why don’t we all reach out to William in any way we can? If you can, send him a nice card to . Drop by with a small token of your appreciation for all that he has done for us. Bring over some soup. Send him a message on Facebook. Anything.

William has always been there for all of us—so now it’s time for us to be there for him.

UPDATE: Here's where you can go to donate directly to William. The page says he does not have health insurance so every little bit will help him! http://www.indiegogo.com/p/186145

This is a tragedy. William is a love. Rampant spewing of violence for no reason other than deep seated fear has to stop. Thanks Stephanie. I'm def in. Meeting w Sherrie later today.
