Early Bird Workouts a Stress Buster Before the Day Begins

Never thought you could work out at 6 a.m.? You might surprise yourself!

I never thought I’d be the type to wake up at 5:30 a.m., lace up my shoes and get my work out on.

But I actually have finally become that person.

And, surprisingly, I couldn’t be happier!

Before I started my early morning work out routines, I thought it’d be a pain to get out of bed. Yes, it’s hard to roll out of bed when the alarm goes off so early, but as soon as my feet hit the floor, I’m ready to go.

One local option for an early bird work out occurs every Monday and Wednesday at 6 a.m. at the in Regent Square. Led by Ebony Pearson, this core group of diverse women ranging in age from 20s to 50s complete a range of exercises. Stations that include weights, squats, jump rope and other options are timed by Pearson after beginning stretches. It’s a great combination of cardio and strength, which is perfect for getting the real results that you want.

In addition, Pearson leads the group in runs across the room to amp up the heart rate, along with lunges back and forth across the room as well. (We all love those lunges, don’t we?)

The early bird group also will get you a full set of abs work in before your work day starts.

Each class is $7 for drop-ins while a discount is available for a full month’s purchase.

My personal favorite reason for working out at 6 a.m. is that it literally melts away my morning stress. When I get to the computer in the morning, I am no longer groggy and worried about deadlines—I’m wide awake and ready to take on the challenges of the day.

So, give it a try at WSCC, your local gym, or your living room and see how it feels! You might not miss the bed as much as you think.
