Dating 101: Loving Still

Please join in the dialogue about love and dating.

This week’s blog is concise in light of giving you the gift of time to spend with friends, family, and your beloved. Please don’t analyze this blog for too long on my account. I am sure you have people to visit and vacations to enjoy.

My present to you for the holidays is to consistently inspire you to love yourself in the midst of the trials and errors of life that we face. Lately, I have been ultra motivated by the joy of giving and receiving love in the universe. This sentiment that I speak of is at times difficult for me to put into words. Nevertheless, I do know that when we take a moment to sit, reflect on whom and what surrounds us, and listen to the insight that the universe has to offer, we experience amazing growth and change if we are open to it.

In light of this statement, I recently discovered the musical styling of the recording artist Gretchen Parlato and her song Still. For the record, I do not write this blog to promote an artist, because I admit I have only heard this one song. However, the lyrics captivated me. When I heard this harmonious muse of inspiration, I recognized that I am in a spiritual place where the equitable nature by which one yields and receives love is sacred to me. As a result of how I viewed communication to be for my love languages, see my past blogs for more information on that subject.

My voice is an integral part of my expression of gratitude for the love that I have received to validate others in their love language without compromising my integrity. Consequently, in the past, I was too busy paying attention to the noise of insecurity, disappointment, fear, and doubt that I could not hear the calm or even rational voice speaking to my heart. Yet, even in the midst of my chaos, I have emerged with a strong heart and disciplined mind to actualize love for humanity.

Therefore, I will share with you some of the lyrics of this song to challenge you. If there were ever words written that echo my heart’s desire for mankind to be healed and loved, this is it!

Even when I feel alone, I still love

Even if I had no home, I still love

Till my fears have gone away, I still love

Let it go and come what may

I still love

Through my joy and through my pain, I still love

Like the sun that follows rain, I still love

No beginning and no end, I still love

Love, so love comes back again

I still love

The wisdom that I learned from these stanzas is almost like a revelation. Thus it makes me wonder, what songs, quotes, passion, or individuals in your life reflect your sense of purpose each day?

For me, these words are my call to action when I awake to love through it all.  I thank you for journeying with me thus far through my explorations on love and your feedback, but more importantly I thank you for still loving!
