Woodland Hills Boys Upend McKeesport

High School Basketball

A young, upstart McKeesport team gave Woodland Hills boys all they could handle on Friday night at the local high school.

The Wolverines fell behind early as the Tigers were shooting at a wicked percentage to open a nine point lead in the opening quarter.

With some consistent shooting and control of the rebounding stats at both ends of the floor, Woodland Hills closed the gap and finally came away with a 67-62 win.

The victory was the ninth in conference play to go with only two losses. The Wolverines were led by Jeremy McMunn's 36 points which included five three pointers. It was senior recognition night at Woodland Hills and McMunn, a senior, had a career best as a varsity shooting guard.

Three more games remain on the 2011-2012 schedule before the team heads into the playoffs.

The final conference game will be against cross town rival Penn Hills at Penn Hills on Friday night (2/10). The Wolverines also have two nonconference games as they will travel to West Allegheny for one,  then have one more home date taking on Hollidaysburg on February 13th at 6:30.
