Wilkinsburg Housing Renovation Tour

The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation, on behalf of the Wilkinsburg Affordable Housing Coalition (WAHC), will provide a walking media tour to help launch 20 or more housing renovation projects in the borough.

The tour will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m., and will visit three homes within walking distance of one another.  WAHC board members will be available for interviews.

The WAHC—a joint effort of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh (HFHGP), and Wilkinsburg Christian Housing—and volunteers will provide renovation assistance to at least 20 targeted homeowners in the Princeton Park and Park Triangle areas of Wilkinsburg this summer.  All recipients of assistance will be homeowners who fit certain income and other criteria.

This year, renovations are being made possible by a $40,000 grant to HFHGP provided by Peoples Natural Gas, with additional funds available through a matching grant opportunity, as well as the WAHC’s existing financial resources and staff.  The WAHC will continue raising funds, which will enable this partnership to continue for several years.
