DogtoberFEST 2011

DogtoberFEST is a one-day event to promote dog adoptions and raise awareness about rescues and shelters in Western PA. The event will be held in the parking lot next to McCormick and Schmick's on Sidney Street. This outdoor festival will feature dozens of animal shelters, breed-specific rescues, specialty vendors and guest DJs from ClearChannel Radio. This year, we are presenting a Pooch Pride Parade and Costume Contest with up to $500 in prizes for Most Original Costume and Dog/Owner Look-Alike. The pet parade begins at 11 a.m.  Enjoy homemade food, live entertainment, training demonstrations, Ask-A-Trainer and Ask-A-Vet booths, plus any eligible dogs can participate in the onsite rabies clinic.

Adoptable dogs from across our region will be featured and available for meet-and-greets but any adoptions will be handled after the event through the individual rescues. Dogs from the public are welcome to come and meet the adoptable dogs or just have a day out on the town. Public dogs must be current on vaccinations and on a non-retractable leash. Fenced meet-and-greet areas and potty break areas will be available for all dogs.
