Wilkinsburg Citizen's Police Academy, Wednesdays through Dec. 4

The Wilkinsburg Police Department will offer a Citizen's Police Academy to residents. The free instructional program will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 18 through Dec. 4, at the Wilkinsburg Borough Building. Classes will be from 6 pm to 9 pm, and will take place in the third-floor auditorium.

Now in its eighth year, the program is designed to give citizens a hand-guided tour into the world of local law enforcement, and to educate citizens on the purpose and rationale of police procedures. Participants also can earn certifications in CPR and first aid.

Applications can be picked up in the Police Department in the Wilkinsburg Borough Building.
