Wheelchair Games Kids Event at Shadyside Academy

The local school is hosting Kids Day in conjunction with the National Veterans Wheelchair Games.

Shadyside Academy is hosting the 11th annual Kids Day event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 5 as part of the 31st National Veterans Wheelchair Games.

Kids Day offers children with physical disabilities from the local Pittsburgh area an opportunity to interact with the many athletes competing in the Games.  Under the guidance of these experienced athlete mentors, the children will enjoy learning about and participating in adaptive sports activities.

Kids Day promotes a fun and active everyday lifestyle to children with disabilities while engendering important life skills such as teamwork and determination.  Veteran athlete mentors will present the children with their own medal for participating in this year’s Kids Day event.
