Get a 'Taste of Swissvale' Sunday

A showcase of local homes will occur Sunday afternoon.

This Sunday, the Taste of Swissvale event will give guests an exclusive look at the second phase of the Kopp Glass Gateway Redevelopment Project, along with a chance to sample food, wine and beer from local Swissvale businesses.  

Through a partnership with the Mon Valley Initiative, the $4.14 million project has been responsible for revitalizing an area of Swissvale that was once home to deteriorated housing and nuisance bars.  

The Taste of Swissvale fundraiser, sponsored by the , will showcase nine newly renovated homes, including a tour of the old church that has been converted into four condominiums.

House tours given by SEDCO members start at the park along Park Avenue beginning at 1 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon until 4 p.m.  Homes open for the tour are located at:

  • 7353 Burton Street
  • 7411 Duquesne Avenue
  • 7416 Duquesne Avenue (four condominiums)
  • 7417 Duquesne Avenue
  • 7421 Park Avenue
  • 2106 Palmer Street

Food, wine and beer will be provided by Home Towne Tavern, , , , Boomerang Bar & Restaurant and more.

There will be local entertainment, a Chinese Auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Tickets are $10 and assist SEDCO in supporting local organizations and various projects around the region. In the past, SEDCO has provided funding and services to the Word of God food bank, Swissvale Community Days, Ann Peelor Arts Scholarship Fund, among many other programs. Information on buying these properties will also be available at the event.
