Social Services Fair Set at Living Spirit Ministry

Swissvale church hosts area organizations April 9.

The Living Spirit Ministry of Swissvale will host a Social Services Fair and Community Dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 9.

Representatives from several social services organizations will be at the ministry’s . to discuss their programs.

“Our ministry is committed to serving the needs of our community,” Pastor Dai Morgan said. “We have realized that many in our community are unaware of all the services that are available to support them. This is an opportunity for Swissvale area residents to find the assistance they need.”

The event will begin with a free meal at 4:30 p.m. Reservations are requested.

During the dinner, organization representatives will provide brief overviews of their programs. They will be available during the dinner and after for individual discussions.

Organizations scheduled to participate include:

  • Auberle, which runs the SNAP (Stop Now and Plan) anger management program for boys 6 to 11
  • Gwen’s Girls, a program that strives to empower girls and young women to have productive lives
  • Big Brothers and Sisters of America, whose mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with mentors
  • Bradley Center, which provides behavioral healthcare and comprehensive services for children, youth and families
  • Area Agency on Aging, which deals with life issues for senior citizens, and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, the umbrella group for the county’s social services. 

In addition, literature will be available from Strong Women Strong Girls, an organization that uses the lessons learned from strong women throughout history to encourage girls and young women to become strong women themselves, and FamilyLinks, a provider of behavioral and support services for families with children.
