Rankin Bridge Lane Restrictions to Occur Wednesday & Thursday

Anyone traveling on the Rankin Bridge on Wednesday and Thursday should expect some restrictions.

Crack and joint sealing operations on the bridge—located just over the Swissvale/Rankin border—will begin on Wednesday, June 19, weather permitting.

Traffic on the bridge will be reduced to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.  Flagging crews will assist motorists through the work zone.

Crack and joint sealing is a preservation activity that prolongs the life of road surfaces by preventing moisture from entering cracks and joints. Moisture can cause potholes and premature deterioration requiring more costly repairs. Matcon Diamond, Inc. of Pittsburgh will perform the work.

Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Visit 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major roadways before traveling.
