Power Expected To Be Restored Friday

Residents without power in the area might not have relief until Friday.

As of 9:30 p.m. Thursday, 5,700 Duquesne Light customers were without service following Wednesday's storms.

According to spokesman Joey Vallarian, crews continue making repairs to the numerous downed trees and wires.

With the extensive damage caused to our electrical system, officials are estimating that power in eastern Allegheny County will be restored late Friday afternoon.

Duquesne Light received reports of 422 downed wires, 170 downed trees or tree limbs on wires, and 34 broken poles.

About 120 contract workers from Pepco in Washington D.C. will be assisting Duquesne Light in its restoration efforts.
