Parkway Work Continues This Week

Here is a traffic work update for your commute to and from work if you are headed downtown.

PennDOT District 11 is announcing work to improve bridge transitions on the Parkway East will continue weather permitting this week, Tuesday through Friday nights.

Crews will be sawing and sealing concrete patches in various locations between the Grant/Stanwix Street (Exit 71) and Wilkinsburg/Forest Hills (Exit 78) interchanges.

Intermittent lane closures will occur as needed this week according to the following schedule:

Two lane areas

Inbound (westbound)

  • Single lane traffic from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Outbound (eastbound)

  • Single lane traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Three lane areas

Inbound

  • Single lane closure (two of three lanes open) from 7-11 p.m. At 11 p.m. two of three lanes will be closed allowing only one inbound lane to remain open overnight through 6 a.m.

Outbound

  • Single lane closure (two of three lanes open) from 7-9 p.m. At 9 p.m. two of three lanes will be closed allowing only one outbound lane to remain open overnight through 6 a.m.

Note: Outbound single lane restrictions will begin at midnight this Friday due to a Pirates home game.

The $3.2 million project includes repairing, rehabilitating and overlaying pavement transitions at various bridge locations within the project area. The prime contractor is the Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc. of Imperial, PA. Overall work will be completed in early summer 2011.
