Parkway Will See Traffic Restrictions

Road work will restrict traffic in portions of the Parkway this week, including the Wilkinsburg/Forest Hills exit.

Road work on I-376 will restrict traffic on the Wilkinsburg/Forest Hills and Grant/Stanwix Street exits at night starting Monday, June 13, through Thursday, June 16, according to a statement PennDOT released last week.

In two lane areas, westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

In three lane areas, westbound traffic will be reduced to two lanes from 7 - 11 p.m., after which one lane will remain open until 6 a.m. For eastbound traffic, two lanes will remain open from 7 - 9 p.m., with one-lane traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

PennDOT noted in its press release that it will not reduce eastbound traffic to a single lane until after midnight on Monday, owing to increased congestion from the Pittsburgh Pirates game. If weather interferes with road work, PennDOT may extend the project through Friday night.

PennDOT advises drivers to use caution and plan for longer commutes when traveling through the affected areas. Log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions and cameras on major roadways before traveling.
