MLK Community Mural Project unveils Penn Hills Historical Mural on Swanson's Pharmacy.
The Martin Luther King “Moving the Lives of Kids” Community Mural Project has partnered with local community groups to create a historical mural on the Swanson’s Pharmacy in Penn Hills, which was unveiled Saturday.
The mural depicts the past, present and future of Penn Hills, including imagery of residents, historical buildings, local figures, families and heroes. The unveiling invited all local residents to enjoy this historical mural in the community. Other murals will be added in the
The MLK Moving the Lives of Kids Community Mural Project is a program whose mission is to create a place where people from all walks of life can come together to learn how to become socially functional, skill build, expand positive peer groups, express and inspire.
Currently, MLK has produced more than 200 murals in the city of Pittsburgh and over 500 nationwide, and in Brazil and Haiti. The program employs youth to create murals with professional artists. The youth learn art, culture, history, professional skills, financial responsibility and health.
