Center Considering Play Space for Families

We recently gave the lower level main room a quick do-over this past winter with some plastering and new paint along with slatted window blinds.  The outcome is light and bright and clean!

We are hoping to add dimmable track lighting before the summer. This main room is available for hourly rental on weekends and weekdays. Tables and chairs are included in the rental fee. Good news -- this means the same rental rates for a spiffier room. Come by and take a peek! Book early because it fills up quick.

If you have a young family and wish to have a play space at the WSCC, join the planning committee to make it happen. We are considering the possibility and need your input. The concept is to have a room open at certain hours of the week with play equipment and toys. This would be for children up to 6 years old and a parent or guardian must accompany them.

Although we are flattered by the mistaken identity, the WSCC is not the Regent Square Civic Association. We are two distinct, independent, separate non-profits with different boards, missions and purposes. The RSCA holds meetings in the WSCC building and the RSCA’s mailing address is the  same as the WSCC’s. The RSCA kindly prints articles about the WSCC in its newsletter. When you become a member of the RSCA, you do not become a member of the WSCC, and vise versa. I know, it can be confusing. But you are lucky to have two wonderful community organizations serving your neigborhood. And if you contact us by mistake, we will gladly redirect you to the RSCA.

You've already heard of this class and now it comes to the WSCC -- Club Dance! No experience is needed and this class is for the everyday average woman looking for a sizzling hot dance class to express your sensuality and the goddess that is hidden deep inside. Learn club-dancing fundamentals and strut your stuff to the hottest music as you peel away your inhibitions. This is an excellent lower body workout, non-stop calorie burning strength class. Bring comfortable dancing shoes or be a diva in stiletto heels! This class is lead by Jame' Elis, Artistic Director/CEO of JamDANCE Productions.

Are you in the mood for art studies, but do not want to make a big money and time commitment? Try Introduction to pastels on Monday, April 11, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for $25. Explore this spontaneous medium with instructor Francine Vandenberg. Four guided exercises include basic technique, values and under-painting with black & white, working on texture, and combining pastels with watercolor. All supplies are included and no art experience needed.   

will offer a Quick and Easy Soups from Your Pantry March 14 and bread baking class (not with a machine) on April 4 or $20 per student.

Next fall, the EcoFest will host the first time ever "Swap It!," a clothing and sporting goods exchange. A donation is needed to gain entry. All donations need to be in good condition and a step above the Goodwill quality. This swap is as good as you give. One room will be for women’s items, one for children’s and another for sporting goods and men’s items. It is a fun way to spruce up your wardrobe and to recycle. If you want to be on the Swap It!
