Josh and Gab and their Unique Unforgettable Musical Bullying Awareness Program to visit East Catholic School

East Catholic School at 2001 Ardmore Blvd., Forest Hills, Pa 15221 will be rockin’ and rollin’ September 10, 2013 beginning at 9:00 am with songs as “Nine O’Clock Behind the Jackrabbit” or “I’m not a Bully”. Josh and Gab are two Pittsburgh based writers, performers, educators and public personalities who will bring to the students their unique, unforgettable, musical bullying awareness program.   Josh and Gab will launch a week of anti-bullying activities from September 10-13 designed to Kick-Off East Catholic’s “Let’s Make A Splash: Wipe Out Bullying” as part of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.  The Josh and Gab Show spotlights the team’s unique humor, various styles of songwriting and popular music, in addition to personal experiences in an educational and heartfelt program aimed at students.

East Catholic is taking proactive steps to stop and prevent bullying by adopting the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.   This program is not a curriculum that students participate in for only a few weeks.  Rather, it is a coordinated effort by all adults in the school to supervise and intervene when any bullying happens.  As part of the program, students participate in twice a month class meetings to learn about the effects of bullying, what they can do about it, and how they can work with adults at school to put a stop to it even as bystanders.  Parents will have meetings, too, so they can support the messages that the students are getting in school.

The week’s events include a poster exhibit throughout the school, a Pep Rally and a collective effort for students to take a “Bullying Prevention Pledge.”
