Reel Hollywood Bar & Grill Opens in July

The casual dining spot is at Edgewood Town Centre near Planet Fitness.

The Reel Hollywood Bar and Grill is bringing a new flavor to Edgewood Town Centre this July with a casual dining restaurant featuring hearty ribs and burgers, along with healthy options for vegetarians.

Owned by Ben Gordon of Greenfield, who previously opened the Pita Pit’s downtown location, the space is located a few doors down from Planet Fitness at the plaza. Gordon said the new restaurant and bar will be fully open July 15.

“I have a couple partners who came up with the concept and they let me buy it, and it seemed like a great thing - exactly what this neighborhood needs,” Gordon said. “The way Pittsburgh has been expanding, we thought we could expand here.”

With a movie theme at the Reel Hollywood Bar and Grill, some of the dishes offered include the “Dangerfield,” also known as a hot pastrami sandwich covered in cole slaw and Russian dressing for $7.50, along with the “Sinatra Favorite, My Way,” a grilled portabella mushroom with melted provolone cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and grilled sweet onions served on an Italian loaf at $7.50 for a whole and $4 for a half. The price range for the dishes is from around $3 to $13. Featured specials also will change on a weekly basis.

“It really seems like people in this area need a place where they can get a really good meal, home-cooked,” Gordon said. “We have had a lot of people stop by after the gym to check out our menu, so we will add a lot more healthy options.”

Gordon also hopes the new spot becomes a destination for watching the game, whether it’s Steelers Sunday, hockey, baseball and more. Pay-per-view events also will be featured on a regular basis. There will be four TV’s across the main wall, along with a 9-foot projection screen along the back wall.

“We will have a lot of lunch stuff, a lot of sandwiches, burgers and dogs, along with a bunch of entrees with ribs and steaks,” he said. “All of our meat is certified Angus, top of the line beef.”

Gordon, who has a background with culinary school as well, said he will be working in the kitchen, dining room and just about everywhere.

“We have had a lot of people stop by and say, ‘This is what we need,’” Gordon said. “So, we are really excited to give the people what they want.”

Reel Hollywood Sports Bar and Grill is currently hiring wait staff and workers for the kitchen. Those interested can stop by the space at Edgewood Town Centre on weekday afternoons.
